Authorities across Lao PDR have begun announcing the official lists of elected members to provincial People’s Councils following the February 22 vote, marking a key step in strengthening local governance nationwide.
Provinces releasing confirmed results include Vientiane Capital, Houaphanh Province, Bokeo Province, Khammouane Province, Luang Namtha Province, Attapeu Province, Bolikhamxay Province, Champasak Province, and Savannakhet Province.
Provincial election committees reported that vote counting and verification were conducted in accordance with electoral regulations to ensure transparency and accuracy. The elected members will represent local communities in their respective councils, contributing to socio-economic planning, public service oversight, and legislative review at the provincial level.
Officials described the February 22 vote as orderly and well-organized, with strong voter participation reported across many areas. Final consolidated nationwide results are expected in the first week of March following completion of verification procedures.
