KPL The Prime Minister's Office has officially designated Monday, March 9, 2026, as a substitute public holiday for International Women’s Day. The announcement was formalized under Notification No. 2118/PMO, dated December 26, 2025, which outlines the comprehensive public holiday schedule for 2026.

According to the notification, the government’s decision to establish a clear framework for substitute holidays aims to ensure nationwide consistency across all sectors, provide a structured timeline for ministries, central agencies, and local authorities to plan their 2026 work programmes, and support effective administration and the coordinated implementation of government activities.
While International Women’s Day is traditionally observed on March 8, its placement on a Sunday in 2026 necessitated an adjustment to maintain the holiday's intent.
This adjustment applies to all government ministries, organizations, and local administrations to ensure smooth operations and public awareness nationwide.
Authorities have advised all relevant departments to implement this schedule immediately, allowing for better synchronization between public services and the private sector.
