On 26 February 2026 – The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment formally convened a nationwide summit in Champassak Province today to summarise the sector’s achievements for 2025 and outline the strategic direction for 2026.

The meeting was chaired by Minister of Agriculture and Environment Linkham Douangsavanh, and honoured by the presence of Secretary of the Champassak Provincial Party Committee Alounxay Sounnalath. The delegation included vice-governors from across the country, deputy ministers, heads of equivalent agencies, and directors of provincial departments.

Delegates are set to review several critical documents and agendas, focusing on long-term sustainability and economic stability. This includes a comprehensive assessment of the Agriculture and Environment Development Plan (2021–2025) and the establishment of focal work plans for the 2026–2030 cycle.

Furthermore, the meeting will summarise the implementation of the 2025 development plan, propose targets for 2026, and evaluate the sector's performance regarding the National Agenda on Addressing Economic and Financial Difficulties, alongside integrated reports from the transport, commerce, and banking sectors.

Beyond technical presentations, the summit serves as a platform for open discussion and the exchange of ideas among stakeholders.

A significant portion of the session is dedicated to evaluating the specific targets previously assigned to provincial departments.

The meeting will conclude by defining new responsibilities and performance benchmarks for the coming year, ensuring that provincial authorities are equipped to effectively implement their mandates and support the nation's environmental and agricultural goals.
