(KPL) The Lao MSME Expo 2026 officially opened on Feb 25 at the Lao-ITECC Exhibition Center in Vientiane, bringing together policymakers, development partners, and entrepreneurs to promote the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith, President of the Lao Women’s Union Aly Vongnobountham, Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union Thongly Sisoulith, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations including the World Bank, and business leaders from across the country.
In his opening address, Minister of Industry and Commerce Malaythong Kommasith described the expo as a strategic milestone supporting implementation of the government’s 10th National Socio-Economic Development Plan. He said the event serves as a platform to showcase the capability and competitiveness of domestic enterprises as the country prepares for new policy directions to be considered by the National Assembly.
The exhibition features 250 booths highlighting the diversity and potential of “Made in Laos” products, emphasizing cultural identity, innovation, and environmental sustainability for regional and international markets. Participants include MSMEs from provinces nationwide, business associations, financial institutions, young entrepreneurs, and international exhibitors from neighboring countries. The Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other partner organizations are also participating.
Special displays mark two decades of MSME development in Laos and highlight youth entrepreneurship initiatives.
The Lao MSME Expo 2026 will remain open to the public through March 1.
