The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has issued a warning for Typhoon Bualoi, which is forecast to impact northern Laos on September 29–30.
According to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, the storm strengthened into a super typhoon early Monday morning, with maximum wind speeds near its center. It is currently located over northeastern Vietnam and the southeastern Gulf of Tonkin and is expected to move westward, affecting the provinces of Bokeo, Luang Namtha, Oudomxay, Phongsaly, Xayabouly, Huaphanh, Vientiane, and Luang Prabang.
Although the system is expected to weaken as it moves into Vietnam’s mountainous regions, authorities warn it will still bring heavy rain and strong winds to northern Laos. The ministry has urged all relevant agencies, disaster response units, and provincial administrations to remain on high alert and prepare emergency measures to protect lives, property, and livelihoods.
Officials confirmed that updates will continue as the storm progresses.
