(KPL) On August 11, 2025, Vice President Bounthong Chitmany and his delegation visited Kasy District, Vientiane Province, where they were welcomed by Governor Khamphanh Sitthidampha and other officials.

Amphay Sorattanavong, Secretary of the Kasy District Party Committee, reported that the district covers 206,238 hectares, 85% of which is mountainous, with potential for agriculture, livestock, transit services, eco-tourism, and small-scale hydropower. It has 51 villages, a population of 46,008, and an average annual GDP growth of 5.8%.

From July 22–28, heavy rains caused floods in 38 villages, affecting over 10,000 people and damaging farmland, houses, and markets, with losses estimated at 26 billion kip. Emergency aid worth 200 million kip has been distributed, and further relief is being raised.

Vice President Bounthong praised the district’s achievements and urged the effective implementation of the 8th Party Congress resolution, with a focus on rural development, education, national defense, and drug prevention. He also provided relief goods and 200 million kip in cash to flood victims, while Vientiane Province contributed an additional 50 million kip in goods and cash.
