(KPL) Authorities have issued a warning to residents living along the Nam Ma and Nam Long rivers in Long District, Luang Namtha Province, as water levels have risen significantly on September 10, 2024. Those residing near the riverbanks are urged to quickly relocate their essential belongings and livestock to higher and safer areas.

The public is advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to safeguard their valuables in anticipation of potential flooding. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and follow local authorities' instructions to minimize the risk of casualties or property damage.

In addition, people in Sing and Long districts, as well as neighboring Xieng Raab (Myanmar), are currently facing power outages due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi. The storm has brought heavy rain and strong winds to Luang Namtha Province, causing trees to fall onto power lines in the Kiu Lom area, disrupting electricity in the affected regions.

Repair crews are working to restore power, but heavy rainfall continues to slow the process. Despite these challenges, electrical teams are prioritizing the repairs and are striving to complete them as soon as possible.

Residents are also urged to remain alert for possible flooding and landslides during this period. Local village committees have been instructed to establish 24-hour watch teams to monitor water levels and ensure community safety until conditions return to normal.
