Visit Laos Year launched in Pathumohone

KPL (KPL) Pathumphone District, Champasack Province launched the Visit Laos Year 2024 related to the Phou Asa Temple Festival, One District One Product Exhibition (ODOP) and eight High Schools' art performance on May 20, in the presence of Mr Padith Vanalatsamy, Chairman of the Party Inspection Organization, Mr Viengsamay Siliphonphan, Chief of Pathumphone District, Mr Thongthin Phompakdy, Deputy Director of the Department of Information, Culture and Tourism of Champasack province, and relevant officials.

(KPL) Pathumphone District, Champasack Province launched the Visit Laos Year 2024 related to the Phou Asa Temple Festival, One District One Product Exhibition (ODOP) and eight High Schools' art performance on May 20, in the presence of  Mr Padith Vanalatsamy, Chairman of the Party Inspection Organization, Mr Viengsamay Siliphonphan, Chief of Pathumphone District, Mr Thongthin Phompakdy, Deputy Director of the Department of Information, Culture and Tourism of Champasack province, and relevant officials.

Mr Viengsamay said the festival of Phu Asa Temple is designated as a tourism activity of the province according to the agreement of the Governor of Champasack province  and the calendar of tourism promotion activities of the province in order to meet and support this objective to be a success by setting many activities such as to water the Buddha images at the temple as well as held the religion ceremony in the temple, there will be an exhibition of ODOP-agricultural products, handicrafts that are the products of each village group in the district, and there will be a volleyball competition, Petanq, a traditional music band, a ceremony to offer alms to the monks. This event aims to attract domestic and foreign tourists to increase visit in Champasack province.

Mr Viengsamay also highlighted the unique situation of the district, where the most of the people rely on agricultural production, farming-animal husbandry and trade-service as a secondary occupation.

Mr Padith said tourism work is to open up the market to be rich, generate enormous income for the country by providing services, create jobs for the society, distribute income in urban and rural areas, spread development, preserve the environment, natural scenery, preserve culture, and good traditions of the nation and the local area.

So, the launching of Visit Laos Year 2024 in Pathumphone is related with an annual festival of Phou Asa Temple in 2024 is very important and this event also promotes the production of goods related to services as a broad process throughout the society as well as advertising information on tourism, history, culture and nature, creates Pathumphone become a new tourist destination and in the development network for tourism in the southern and sub-region, promoting and preserving fine arts, culture and customs of the local area and create awareness of the special potential of the district in terms of tourism, promote tourism services, attract more domestic and foreign investment, create basic for the socio-economic development of the district related to the local potential.
