Laos attracts USD4.3 billion in trade, investment from Cambodia, Vietnam

KPL (KPL) Laos has attracted more than USD 4.3 billion in trade, investment and tourism form Cambodia and Vietnam, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Sthabandith Insisiengmay told the 13th conference on trade, investment, and tourism promotion for the Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam (CLV) Development Triangle held in Attapeu on Feb 27.

(KPL) Laos has attracted more than USD 4.3 billion in trade, investment and tourism form Cambodia and Vietnam, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Sthabandith Insisiengmay told the 13th conference on trade, investment, and tourism promotion for the Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam (CLV) Development Triangle held in Attapeu on Feb 27.

The meeting drew senior officials and representatives of business community of the three countries as well as those from the 13 border provinces in the CLV Development Triangle Area namely Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, and Binh Phuoc of Vietnam; Xekong, Attapeu, Saravan, and Champassak of Laos; and Stung Treng, Rattanakiri, Mondul Kiri, and Kratie of Cambodia.

In 2023, Cambodia ranked 16th largest investor in Laos with its total investment reaching USD118 million as Vietnam’s investment was estimated at USD 4.2 billion making Vietnam the 3rd largest investor in Laos.

In the first nine months of 2023, more than 1.6 million ASEAN nationals visited the Lao PDR. The number accounted for 66% of all foreign visitors entering the country, according to the Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment.
