Digital Week 2024 opened and 5G service launched

(KPL) The Ministry of Technology and Communications organized the Digital Week 2024 in Vientiane, on January 10, announced as the National Digital Day as well as launched 5G service in the Lao PDR.

This is the second digital event since the establishment of the Ministry of Technology and Communications.

The opening ceremony attended by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and high ranking officials.

PM Sonexay said that currently, digitalization is a broad and growing process around the world, all countries have considered digitalization as an important basis for development by setting a strategy for digitalization as a priority plan, to bring digital technology to solve problems, outstanding issues and create new opportunities for their socio-economic development. For the Lao PDR, digital transformation will create a new step for the development of the country, transform the socio-economic development to a new quality and increase the strong connection to strengthen the state management, social management, increase the efficiency of economic development to grow and facilitate the people to eliminate poverty and create a better life.

Mr Boviengkham Vongdala, Minister of Technology and Communications said that the middle of 2023, the Ministry of Technology and Communications focused on preparing for Digital Week 2024, which will be held between January 10-14, at the National Convention Hall, Vientiane, under the slogan "Transform to digital to transform socio-economic development to new quality and increase strong connectivity".

This digital conference will ve a platform to exchange and open opportunities for Lao society, especially entrepreneurs, students, technicians in telecommunications, ICT, cyber security share views and opinions and exhibit and exchange products.

At the same time, there will be an opportunity to share knowledge and experiences in the development of digital technology for the participants in the event to develop their business.
