Vientiane Conducts Flood Disaster Response Training with Support from Chinese Partners

KPL The Prevention and Disaster Response Police Department of Vientiane, in collaboration with the Chinese Foundation 1628 Rescue Unit and the "Nak Noy" Underwater Search Team, conducted a joint training exercise on flood disaster response and social assistance at the Hum Reservoir in Nasaythong District, Vientiane.

(KPL) The Prevention and Disaster Response Police Department of Vientiane, in collaboration with the Chinese Foundation 1628 Rescue Unit and the "Nak Noy" Underwater Search Team, conducted a joint training exercise on flood disaster response and social assistance at the Hum Reservoir in Nasaythong District, Vientiane.

The training, held with support from the Chinese Overseas Assistance Center, aimed to strengthen preparedness and coordination among first responders and local rescue groups for emergencies during the rainy season.

Colonel Khamphet Dalavong, Head of the Prevention and Disaster Response Police Department, emphasized the importance of readiness:

 "This training exercise is designed to enhance our capability to respond quickly and effectively to flood-related emergencies. Our goal is to ensure timely assistance, protect lives and property, and reduce potential damage to the public."

Mr. Chang Inthilat, Head of the Chinese Foundation 1628 Rescue Unit, highlighted the continuous efforts to improve operational efficiency:

 "This annual training is based on real-life experiences from previous flood responses. It aims to build our team’s capacity in water rescue, underwater operations, evacuation of at-risk individuals, and coordinated social assistance to ensure safety and minimize disaster impact."

The training featured hands-on drills in rescue operations, emergency coordination, and evacuation procedures, reinforcing cooperation between Lao and Chinese organizations in disaster preparedness.
