President appoints Ambassador to Belgium

KPL President Choummaly Sayasone has appointed Mr. Khamkheuang Bounteum as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Laos to the Kingdom of Belgium. Prior to the appointment, Mr. Khamkheuang used to be the Lao Ambassador to Austria at the UN office in Vienna. President Choummaly presented the letters of appointment to Mr. Khamkheuang Bounteum, at a ceremony held recently at the Presidential Office (Hor Kham) in Vientiane.

(KPL) President Choummaly Sayasone has appointed Mr. Khamkheuang Bounteum as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Laos to the Kingdom of Belgium. Prior to the appointment, Mr. Khamkheuang used to be the Lao Ambassador to Austria at the UN office in Vienna.

President Choummaly presented the letters of appointment to Mr.  Khamkheuang Bounteum, at a ceremony held recently at the Presidential Office (Hor Kham) in Vientiane.

At the ceremony, President Choummaly talked to the newly appointed Ambassador about the foreign policy of Laos and asked him to continue strengthening the friendly relations and fine cooperation between Laos and Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands and other members of the European Union.

Since the establishment of the diplomatic ties, the friendly relations and cooperation between Laos and Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands and other member states of the European Union has been constantly developed both in bilateral and multilateral frameworks. This cooperation has been made through international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGO) as well as in the framework of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM).

In recent years, Belgium has offered a number of funds and invaluable technical assistance to Laos for the implementation of projects in the fields of public health, clean water, education and training, public works and transport, social security and rural development.
