The leadership of Savannakhet Province paid tribute to Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane, Member of the Politburo of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR, who passed away on August 8, 2026.
On August 11, the Savannakhet Provincial Party Committee, the National Assembly delegation representing Constituency No. 13, and the Savannakhet Provincial People's Council held a memorial ceremony at the National Convention Hall in Vientiane to lay a floral wreath and sign the condolence book in honour of the late leader.
The delegation was led by Comrade Bounchom Oubonpasert, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Savannakhet Provincial Party Committee and President of the Savannakhet Provincial People's Council.
The ceremony expressed profound respect and condolences for the passing of Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane and commemorated his lifelong dedication and contributions to the nation and its people.
Throughout his career, Comrade Xaysomphone devoted his knowledge, wisdom, energy and capabilities to the cause of national protection, construction and development. He made significant contributions to national development, social harmony, prosperity and justice, as well as efforts to improve the well-being of the multi-ethnic Lao people.
The Savannakhet delegation's tribute reflected its deep appreciation for his outstanding contributions and revolutionary service, while conveying condolences to his family, colleagues and the Lao people following his passing.
