Top Five Lao Young Designers 2018 Announced

KPL (KPL) Top five Lao young designers for 2018 have been announced at a press conference in Vientiane on May 30. The top five young designers include Mr Kee Phearkhamngon, Mr Nanthaveth Boupha, Mr Visaphon Keovilay, Ms. Chindasanga Vongsouly and Mr Daovanh Inthavong.

(KPL)  Top five Lao young designers for 2018 have been announced at a press conference in Vientiane on May 30.

The top five young designers include Mr Kee Phearkhamngon, Mr Nanthaveth Boupha, Mr Visaphon Keovilay, Ms. Chindasanga Vongsouly and Mr Daovanh Inthavong.

Each of them will be granted a budget of three million kip to produce a mini collection of fashion works to showcase at the Lao Fashion Week 2018 scheduled for September where judge panel will seclect the best works to decide a winner and runners-up.

The winner will receive a scholarship to attend an intensive six-month design course at ESMOD, a French private school of fashion in Paris, France.

The first runner-up will receive a scholarship for a six-month course at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore. Meanwhile the second runner-up will be given an oportunity to attend a one-year course at the London College of Fashon & Design in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Fourth and fifth place winners will attend a training course conducted by leading designers in Bangkok, Thailand and Manila, Philippines, respectively.

 “I am very happy and excited that my collection has been selected as a top five of Lao Young Designers 2018. This is the second time for me to send collections to this contest. I would like to express thanks to Lao Fashion Week for giving me the opportunity and helping young Lao people to pursue their dreams,” said Mr Visaphon Keovilay.

Lao Young Designer Project is a non-profit programme of the Lao Fashion Week and has close collaboration with various organizations including the French Embassy to Laos, Campus France Laos, ESMOD International, Singapore Embassy to Laos, the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore), British Embassy to Laos, London College of Fashon & Design, Fashion Institute of Philippines, Society Corporation, Eaggamon Fashion House, Pitnapat Fashion House, Partners and sponsors, according to Founder and CEO of Lao Fashion Week and Lao Young Designers Project, Ms Pany Saignavong.
