(KPL) The Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), in collaboration with the Lao Agricultural Business Association, held a press conference on October 22 at the LNCCI office to announce the upcoming special seminar titled “Promotion of Lao Agricultural Business.”
The press conference was honored by the statement of Mr. Bounleuth Luangpaseuth, Vice President of the LNCCI, along with representatives from the organizing committee, business units, and the media.
Mr. Bounleuth stated that, in line with the government’s socio-economic development policy particularly the goal of promoting domestic agricultural production to substitute imports and increase exports—the LNCCI and the Lao Agricultural Business Association, with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), will organize this one-day seminar on October 31, 2025, in Vientiane.
Participants will include representatives from the government, international organizations, Provincial Chambers of Commerce and Industry from all 18 provinces, business associations, agricultural sector groups, market networks, banks, financial institutions, cooperatives, and other entities involved in the agricultural value chain. Approximately 300 participants are expected to attend.
The seminar aims to explore opportunities for Lao agricultural businesses to expand, discuss the future of the country’s agricultural sector in the international market, and address key obstacles and challenges facing agricultural enterprises.
The morning session will feature open discussions on strengthening the agricultural business sector and exchanging views within the Lao business community. In the afternoon, the discussion outcomes will be presented to relevant ministries and key partners to formulate a strategic coordination mechanism to support agricultural business development.
A signing ceremony will also take place for a funding agreement on a project focused on manufacturing to reduce imports, involving the LNCCI, the Lao Agricultural Business Association, the Lao Product Promotion Fund, and the Department of Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion, Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
Expected outcomes include: Identifying directions and solutions to meet ASEAN and Chinese market demands.
Establishing coordination mechanisms linking producers, buyers, suppliers, and financial institutions.
Strengthening and transforming the agricultural business sector through collaboration.
Developing a clear, step-by-step five-year action plan (2025–2030) to drive sustainable agricultural business transformation.
