On October 15, 2025, a signing ceremony took place between the Lao Government and the concessionaire company to implement the construction project for the Vientiane-Hanoi Expressway (Section 2), running from Pakxan District the Laos-Vietnam border at Champhone District, Borikhamxay Province.
(KPL) On October 15, 2025, a signing ceremony took place between the Lao Government and the concessionaire company to implement the construction project for the Vientiane-Hanoi Expressway (Section 2), running from Pakxan District the Laos-Vietnam border at Champhone District, Borikhamxay Province.
The distance is approximately 203.8 kilometres, and construction is expected to be completed by the year 2030.
The construction of this expressway aligns with the government's policy of connectivity and integration. The project has an estimated budget of 1.9 billion USD. Implementation will begin from the date of the signing.
When this project is completed, it will greatly benefit and facilitate the import and export of goods between Laos and Vietnam. It will significantly save time in transportation. Currently, transporting goods between Laos and Vietnam, and Thailand and Vietnam, takes several days, but once this expressway is complete, the transportation time will be cut in half. Furthermore, it will facilitate easier travel and exchanges between the people of the two nations, Laos and Vietnam.
