(KPL) The event “Sharing New Opportunities, Working Together into the Future – Guangxi in the Eyes of International Media 2025” officially commenced in Chongzuo City, Guangxi, China.

Nearly 30 journalists from major mainstream media outlets and prominent online influencers from ASEAN countries including Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Singapore are participating in the week-long programme. The initiative aims to provide first-hand insights into Guangxi’s development and showcase the tangible achievements of China-ASEAN cooperation in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).

The event is hosted by the Information Office of the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and organized by the Guangxi Branch of China News Service.

Guangxi is China’s only provincial-level region that shares both land and maritime borders with ASEAN countries, making it a strategic hub for cross-border cooperation and exchange. Leveraging its geographic advantages, rich natural resources, and industrial potential, Guangxi is actively fostering an AI ecosystem characterized by the model “Research and developmentin Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou + Integration in Guangxi + Application in ASEAN.”

During the opening ceremony, Li Pan, Director of the Information Office of the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, described Guangxi as a region full of charm, vitality, and potential.

He emphasized that this mobile interview initiative would take participants through Chongzuo, Nanning, and Liuzhou to explore the rapid development of AI and emerging industries, cross-border cooperation with Vietnam, and the region’s industrial innovation.

“Through the unique lens of Guangxi, we can gain a deeper understanding of the vast opportunities in China-ASEAN collaboration,” he noted.

Wu Qingcai, member of the editorial board of China News Service and Editor-in-Chief of China News, stated that Guangxi, now at a pivotal moment in China-ASEAN relations, is embodying the spirit of “working together into the future” through its commitment to high-quality development.

He encouraged media representatives to act as both observers and storytellers, using their platforms to vividly communicate Guangxi’s economic vitality and cooperative achievements to audiences worldwide, thereby offering a more nuanced and multidimensional perspective on China.

Ban Huaqin, member of the Standing Committee and Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Chongzuo Municipal Committee, highlighted Chongzuo’s proactive role in deepening China-ASEAN ties. The city is integrating itself into the Belt and Road Initiative and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. It is developing border industry clusters focused on electronic information and ASEAN specialty product processing, advancing the Nanning–Pingxiang high-speed railway, and accelerating the China–Vietnam smart port project. With AI empowering cross-border industrial chains, Chongzuo is well-positioned to deliver shared benefits to both China and ASEAN countries.

Larry Teo Meng Liang, senior journalist at Singapore’s Fortune Times, remarked on China’s significant progress in fields such as artificial intelligence and new energy vehicles, which have garnered global attention.

He noted Singapore’s close ties with various Chinese provinces under the Belt and Road framework and expressed his intention to observe and report on Guangxi’s transformation with the perspective of an experienced international journalist.
