Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone met in Vientiane with his Cambodian counterpart Samdech Hun Manet, who was in Laos to lay a wreath in tribute to the late General Khamtay Siphandone, former President of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and former State President, who passed away on April 2, 2025 at the age of 102.
(KPL) Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone met in Vientiane with his Cambodian counterpart Samdech Hun Manet, who was in Laos to lay a wreath in tribute to the late General Khamtay Siphandone, former President of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and former State President, who passed away on April 2, 2025 at the age of 102.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, on behalf of the Party, State, multi-ethnic Lao people, and the Siphandone family, expressed sincere gratitude and appreciation to Samdech Hun Manet for leading a high-level delegation of the Kingdom of Cambodia to participate in the wreath-laying ceremony in honor of the late General Khamtay Siphandone.
He also conveyed heartfelt thanks to the top Cambodian leadership for sending messages of condolences to their Lao counterparts, expressing shared sorrow and sympathy with the Lao Party, State, multi-ethnic people, and the Siphandone family.
This was a clear demonstration of the long-standing bond of friendship and neighbourly relations between Laos and Cambodia.
Samdech Hun Manet, on behalf of the Party, Government, and multi-ethnic people of Cambodia, expressed deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences for the passing of General Khamtay Siphandone. He acknowledged the former Lao President’s contributions and expressed solidarity with the Lao side during this difficult time.
