(KPL) The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare held on April 2 a consultative meeting to prepare for the 4th National Skills Competition scheduled to take place from April 28–30, 2025.
The meeting was chaired by Keo Chanthavixay, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, and attended by representatives from the Central Committee of the Lao Federation of Trade Unions, the Lao National Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and other relevant authorities.
Deputy Minister Keo Chanthavixay highlighted that the National Skills Competition has been held three times in Vientiane, with the first edition in 2012, the second in 2016, and the third in 2018.
The 4th National Skills Competition aims to select top competitors to represent Laos at the 14th ASEAN Skills Competition, set for late August 2025 in the Philippines.

This year’s competition will feature five technical fields, including Indoor Electrical Installations, Graphic Design Technology, Cooking, Cabinet Making, and Web Technologies.
Laos' participation in the ASEAN Skills Competition reflects its commitment as an ASEAN member state to advancing technical and vocational skill development.
This engagement strengthens the skills of Lao workers, promotes knowledge exchange, and enhances workforce competitiveness.
Additionally, the competition provides Lao skilled workers with the opportunity to showcase their talents on an international stage, allowing them to assess their expertise against top professionals from ASEAN countries.
To date, Laos has participated in 12 ASEAN Skills Competitions, securing one silver medal in Indoor Electrical Installations at the 10th ASEAN Skills Competition in Hanoi, Vietnam, and receiving 21 ASEAN-level skills certification awards.
