KPL Party and state organizations across the county have organized vibrant celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.

(KPL) Party and state organizations across the county have organized vibrant celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.
Various activities were held, including gatherings, ceremonies, cultural performances, laying wreaths at the memorials of unknown soldiers, and presenting flowery baskets at Kaysone Phomvihane Memorials.
Medals were also awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the national liberation struggle, as well as to the ongoing efforts to protect, preserve, and develop the nation.

The purpose of these activities is to reflect on the history, legacy, and achievements of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, particularly its leadership in the national liberation struggle under President Kaysone Phomvihane and other revolutionary leaders.
These leaders guided the multi-ethnic Lao people in their fight against foreign occupiers in the past and continue to lead the nation in its current development efforts.
On March 22, 2025, which coincides with the Party's founding anniversary (March 22, 1955-2025), a grand assembly was held at the National Convention Centre in Vientiane to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Party's establishment.
The event was attended by Party Secretary-General and State President Thongloun Sisoulith, Politburo member and Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, other senior Party and state leaders, retired senior officials, revolutionary veterans, members of the armed forces and police officers, civil servants, and students.
The ceremony was broadcast live on Lao National Television.

In his speech, Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and State President Thongloun Sisoulith highlighted the monumental significance of the establishment of the Party on March 22, 1955.
He recalled that, fifty years ago, the Party was known as the Lao People’s Party, before it was renamed the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, marking a significant step in the nation’s history.
President Thongloun emphasized the legacy of the Party, founded by the late President Kaysone Phomvihane, who was a key leader in Laos' national revolutionary movement, which was rooted in the aspirations of the Indochinese Communist Party. He recognized the Party’s essential role in the national liberation struggle, its leadership in transitioning Laos into a democratic republic, and its ongoing guidance in the nation’s development.
The President also paid tribute to the revolutionary fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country's independence, acknowledging their pivotal contributions to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Laos.

The ceremony underscored the Party’s legacy, which has been integral to the political, economic, and social development of Laos. Founded with the mission of liberating the nation from colonial rule, the LPRP has continued to drive the country’s modernization and growth over the past seven decades.
President Thongloun called for unity among the people and reaffirmed the Party’s commitment to its ideals, stressing how much Laos has achieved over the past 70 years.
He stated, “The establishment of the LPRP was a historic event that laid the foundation for the prosperous nation we are today. It was a selfless struggle for national liberation, leading the country to independence and paving the way for its growth and progress.”
On this historic occasion, President Thongloun also expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the Party and government to the friendly countries that have supported Laos throughout its journey, particularly over the past 70 years.
