(KPL) Success often stems from passion and dedication. This holds true for Mrs. Pom Chanthala, a resident of Nam Mo Village, Anouvong District, Xaysombon Province, who has turned vegetable farming into a reliable source of income for her family. With an impressive monthly income of 6–7 million kip, her story exemplifies the potential of agriculture to improve livelihoods.

A team of journalists from the Lao News Agency, supported by Phu Bia Mining Co., Ltd., visited Mrs. Pom’s farm to learn more about her inspiring journey. Since joining a farming project initiated by Phu Bia Mining Co., Ltd. in 2017, Mrs. Pom and her family have flourished in vegetable production, thanks to the company's provision of essential farming tools, technical training, and materials such as shade house poles and rubber sheets.

During the visit, Mrs. Pom guided the journalists through her vibrant vegetable garden, brimming with healthy crops. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the project and credited her success to the support provided by Phu Bia Mining Co., Ltd., as well as the agricultural workers from Anouvong District who closely monitored and guided her progress.

"The key to our success in growing vegetables as a commercial product lies in our dedication to the policies of the Party-State and the unwavering support from the district's agricultural workers and Phu Bia Mining Co., Ltd.," Mrs. Pom explained.

Beyond external support, Mrs. Pom emphasized the importance of self-reliance. Whenever possible, her family produces the tools and equipment needed for farming. However, when certain items cannot be made at home, they purchase them to supplement their efforts.

When asked about her income, Mrs. Pom beamed with pride. On average, she earns between 700–800 thousand kip per week, with a monthly income consistently reaching 6–7 million kip. This steady revenue stream has provided her family with financial stability, as they are able to grow vegetables year-round.

Looking ahead, Mrs. Pom plans to expand her shade house to increase production. In addition to supplying vegetables to the local market and Phu Bia Mining Co., Ltd., she also hopes to share her knowledge and experiences with others interested in pursuing vegetable farming as a livelihood.

Mrs. Pom’s story is a testament to the transformative power of hard work, collaboration, and innovation in agriculture. It also highlights the role of community support and corporate partnerships in fostering sustainable economic opportunities for rural families.
