Lao Telecom invests $15.74 million in expanding network infrastructure

KPL In 2024, Lao Telecom demonstrated remarkable progress by investing $15.74 million to expand its telecommunications network infrastructure. The company reported a total revenue of 2,397.93 billion kip (excluding taxes) and fulfilled obligations to the government amounting to 549.75 billion kip.

(KPL) In 2024, Lao Telecom demonstrated remarkable progress by investing $15.74 million to expand its telecommunications network infrastructure. The company reported a total revenue of 2,397.93 billion kip (excluding taxes) and fulfilled obligations to the government amounting to 549.75 billion kip.

Mr. Alounnadeth Banchit, Deputy General Director of Lao Telecommunications Public Company, highlighted these achievements during the company’s annual review meeting on February 20, 2025. The meeting reflected on Lao Telecom’s successes in 2024 and outlined strategies for 2025.

Currently, Lao Telecom operates mobile stations nationwide, supporting 2G, 3G, 4G, and 4.5G technologies, with 5G services available in major cities. The company also provides FTTH (Fiber to the Home) services across the country, enabling it to expand its customer base and strengthen relationships with existing users.

As of now, Lao Telecom serves over 3.3 million active users of Mobile Broadband (MBB) and Fixed Broadband (FBB) services. In addition to its business operations, the company has prioritized improving employee welfare through updated policies and regulations.

Lao Telecom has also contributed significantly to social, educational, and governmental initiatives. The company supported national and ASEAN-level events hosted in Laos with contributions exceeding 12 billion kip. Additionally, it provided equipment and internet services for distance learning and virtual meetings for government and party organizations, valued at several billion kip.

Looking ahead, Lao Telecom aims to retain its current customer base, attract new users, and achieve a revenue target of 2,624.68 billion kip in 2025—a 9.26% increase compared to 2024. The company also projects a net profit of 612.29 billion kip and plans to fulfill government obligations amounting to 597.09 billion kip.

To further its growth, Lao Telecom will invest $17.29 million to enhance its Mobile Broadband and Fixed Broadband services. This investment will focus on improving service quality, strengthening data security, and modernizing its infrastructure to support societal needs and advance toward its vision of a Lao Digital Life era.

The annual review meeting was chaired by Mr. Souphon Chanthavixay, General Director of Lao Telecommunications Public Company, and attended by Mr. Boviengkham Vongdara, Minister of Technology and Communications. Representatives from Lao Telecom’s central and provincial branches, along with delegates from Lao Mobile Money and T-Plus, were also in attendance.
