(KPL) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Bui Thanh Son has sent a congratulatory message to Thongsavanh Phomvihane on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR.
The appointment of Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane was officially announced yesterday during the ongoing 8th Ordinary Session of the 9th National Assembly of Laos.
In his message, the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the trust and high regard the Lao Party and government place in Mr. Thongsavanh, citing his significant contributions in his previous role as head of the Commission for External Relations of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee.
“I am confident that with your knowledge, capability, and extensive experience in foreign affairs, you will lead the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs to achieve new successes, fulfill the responsibilities entrusted by the Lao Party and government, and advance Laos’ peaceful, independent, friendly, and cooperative foreign policy," the Vietnamese leader expressed.
He also emphasized his hope for continued strengthening of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two nations, fostering the deep-rooted friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the parties, governments, and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.
Bui Thanh Son concluded his message with warm congratulations and best wishes, expressing his anticipation of meeting Thongsavanh Phomvihane at the upcoming 9th Laos-Vietnam foreign ministerial political consultation scheduled for December 2024 in Laos.
