The festival brings together entrepreneurs, business associations, traders, and residents from Khammouan and beyond in a vibrant celebration of local and regional products.
The event, which runs from November 13-17, 2024, features 171 food and product stalls and 210 stores, with a combined product value estimated at 10 billion kip. Participating vendors include 146 units from within the province, 13 from other provinces, two from Vietnam, and five from Thailand. Offerings range from food products and handicrafts to agricultural goods, industrial products, processed goods, banking services, and tourism-related items.
The festival highlights One District One Product (ODOP) items from Khammouan’s 10 districts, along with similar initiatives such as OTOP and OKOP from other regions and countries. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including a unique food competition, forums on product development and market access, and cultural showcases featuring ethnic costumes from nine local tribes.
Traditional Lao music and dance performances add to the festive atmosphere, with entertainment provided by groups like the Dao Nue band and Khammouan’s traditional music ensembles.
Mr. Vanxay Phongsavanh, a festival organizer, emphasized the event's role in promoting trade, tourism, and cultural exchange among Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand. “This festival not only highlights the unique flavors and craftsmanship of ODOP, OTOP, and OKOP products but also strengthens collaboration in tourism and investment,” he said.
The event provides a platform for small and medium enterprises to expand their reach into domestic and international markets. By fostering regional partnerships, it enables participants from Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand to exchange products and ideas, driving economic growth and cultural understanding in the region.
The Khammouan Food Festival and Goods Exhibition continues to serve as a bridge connecting local wisdom with global opportunities, cementing its reputation as a vital cultural and economic event.
