(KPL) On November 10, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and his delegation arrived in Shanghai for an official visit, where they were warmly received by Shanghai Party Secretary and Mayor Gong Zheng. The visit underscored the growing partnership between Laos and China, marked by mutual commitments to trade, infrastructure, and economic development.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the hospitality extended to him and his delegation and commended the success of the 7th China International Import Expo, which had recently concluded in Shanghai. Both leaders celebrated the robust and enduring relationship between Laos and China, committing to furthering their strategic partnership across a range of areas. Prime Minister Sonexay and Party Secretary Gong agreed to promote greater connectivity between their countries, with a particular focus on leveraging the China-Laos Railway and direct flights between Vientiane and Shanghai. These initiatives are seen as vital steps in fostering closer, multidimensional ties that align with President Xi Jinping's "Green Mountains Are Golden Mountains" principle, reflecting a shared vision for sustainable growth and prosperity.

The Lao delegation’s itinerary also included visits to significant sites in Shanghai, such as the venue for the Chinese Communist Party's First National Congress, the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, and COMAC, a leading Chinese aircraft manufacturer.
