(KPL) The ceremony for the Phase 1 production launch and capacity expansion of investment projects in the Asia-Potash International Intelligent Industrial Park took place on November 16, 2024.

The launching event was attended by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, along with other Party and government leaders, ministers, provincial governors, senior executives of the Asia-Potash International, and other relevant parties.

The Asia-Potash Intelligent Industrial Park, also known as the Asia-Potash International Industrial Park, is a foreign-invested industrial zone and the first project in the Lao PDR spearheaded by the government and Khammuan Province in collaboration with Asia-Potash International.

This project is a key implementation of the strategic vision to build Laos’ independent and self-reliant economy.  Asia-Potash International is a pioneer in developing the potash and potassium industries.

The projects encompass potash mining and processing facilities, bromine production expansion with a capacity of 50,000 tons annually, chlor-alkali production expansion with a capacity of 100,000 tons annually, and limestone (dolomite) mining and processing with a capacity of 600,000 tons annually.

Mr. Zheng Youye, Deputy General Manager of Asia-Potash International Investment (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd., highlighted that these projects represent the first large-scale initiatives in the Lao PDR. Once operational, the combined projects are expected to generate an annual production value of USD 500 million.

The successful launch of these initiatives will mark a significant milestone for the Asia-Potash International Industrial Park, showcasing advancements in bromine chemical industry, chemical salt production, high-tech integration, and intelligent industrial management.

The park aims to contribute to Laos’ economic development by integrating cutting-edge technology and promoting sustainable industrial practices.
