(KPL) On October 8, 2024, at the Presidential Palace, President Thongloun Sisoulith received Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of Vietnam, during the latter’s visit to Laos for the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related meetings in Vientiane which are scheduled for October 8-11, 2024.
President Thongloun, also Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, congratulated Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on his participation in the ASEAN Summits and praised the success of the bilateral talks between the Lao and Vietnamese prime ministers.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to implementing agreements between their senior leaders, aiming to enhance cooperation in areas including the economy, finance, infrastructure, energy, telecommunications, and tourism.
On behalf of the Party, State, National Assembly, and people of the Lao PDR, President Thongloun expressed gratitude to Vietnam for its continued support, particularly in aiding Laos’ 2024 ASEAN chairmanship and recent flood relief efforts.
Both leaders pledged to further strengthen the Laos-Vietnam great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assured the President that he would continue working closely with the Lao side to ensure the implementation of the bilateral agreements reached by senior leaders of the two countries and wished Laos success in chairing ASEAN in 2024.
