Over 170 domestic and foreign companies invest in Special Economic Zones in 2023

KPL (KPL) In 2023, there are 178 domestic and foreign companies invested in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) with a total investment of U$520 million and a registered capital of more than U$178 million.

(KPL) In 2023, there are 178 domestic and foreign companies invested in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) with a total investment of U$520 million and a registered capital of more than U$178 million.

  Among of them are 18 industrial companies, 30 commercial companies, 127 service companies and three agricultural companies.

Head of the Promotion and Management Office of the Special Economic Zones, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Mr. Sonepasert Dalavong told last week .

In addition, 2,645 stores and enterprise units invested in the special economic zone.

The investment companies have paid tax with a total of 174 billion kip to the state budget and created a total of 3,644 jobs (3,572 locals and 72 foreigners).

However, some number of employees resigned their jobs due to high inflation, they went to work in the neighbouring countries.

SEZs imported U$1.7 billion, while the export stood at U$ 302 million.
