(KPL) Samsung launches its first Samsung Innovation Campus at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, National University of Laos, the global CSR programme applying across the world including America, Europe and Asia, in Vientiane to improve knowledge on technology innovation of Lao youth.

The kick start of the programme is witnessed by Minister of Education and Sports of the Lao PDR and Corporate Relations President of Samsung Electronics during the MoA signing ceremony at the National University of Laos.

Mr. Seunghee Park, Corporate Relations President of Samsung Electronics said that this year 2023, we are launching our 1st Samsung Innovation Campus programme, with the purpose of equipping students with future-proof skills and a practical understanding of next-generation technologies that will shape their future. We are working with the Faculty of Natural Sciences, National University of Laos, to build up the physical Campus, equipped with infrastructure, tools, furniture, operation, and curriculum for students to ensure that the programme strengthen digital capability of Lao youth to foster future generations for development of Laos. The MoA signing ceremony between the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Samsung today is to kick start the programme itself. We thank the Ministry of Education and Sports and the National University of Laos for all the support to make this project happen smoothly and efficiently.”

Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Lao PDR Yung Soo Jung said that the relationship between Korea and the Lao PDR is always stronger from one year to another in all sectors.

“I am very excited for this event. Laos, which has one of the youngest populations in Southeast Asia, abounds with potential for innovation. So, we can say that it has real possibilities for new ways of thinking. In Laos, Samsung is planning to provide courses on coding and programming to 30 students of the National University of Laos in 2023. By transferring the latest know-how and experience of ICT, Samsung aims to play a valuable part in nurturing Lao IT young generation. I hope that, in the near future, young specialists of Korea and Laos will be able to unite to bring meaningful positive change to the people of Laos”.

Minister of Education and Sports Phout Simmalavong, also express his appreciation and excitement for the launch of the 1st international programme here. “I feel honored and proud to be invited by the National University of Laos and Samsung to participate in the MoA signing ceremony on cooperation in setting up Samsung Innovation Campus. This campus is a significant initiative to provide the advanced knowledge from Samsung’s experience to Lao students, and let them be able to access the practical understanding to enhance their future career.”

During the event, Samsung also showcase the advantages and strength of Busan as the host city for World Expo 2030 under the theme of "Transforming Our World, Navigating towards a Better Future" as well.

Samsung Electronics is an official participant of the Bid Committee for World Expo 2030 Busan, supporting Korea's bid to host the World Expo 2030 as a private sector member. This Expo event will play a pivotal role in bringing today’s leading technologies and innovations closer to more and more people.
