CK Power donates 1.5 million baht to support Covid-19 fight in Laos

KPL (KPL) CK Power Public Company (CK Power) has donated 1.5 million baht to the Health Department under the Ministry of Health and the Xayaboury Provincial Health Department to support fight against the Covid-19 outbreak in the Lao PDR.

 

(KPL) CK Power Public Company (CK Power) has donated 1.5 million baht to the Health Department under the Ministry of Health and the Xayaboury Provincial Health Department to support fight against the Covid-19 outbreak in the Lao PDR.

CK Power is operating two hydropower plants including the 1,285-MW Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant in Xayaboury Province and the 615-MW Nam Ngum 2 Hydroelectric Power Plant in Vientiane Province.

Ten new confirmed Covid-19 cases and one death were recorded this morning raising the total of Covid cases in the country to 1,905 and that of associated deaths to 3, according to the National Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control. The new cases included 7 local transmissions in Vientiane, and three imported cases - discovered among returning workers from neighbouring countries – including one each in Champassak, Savannakhet and Luang Namtha.

The dead person was identified as a 74-years-old Vientiane resident who had also been suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes.

He was admitted to Mahosot Hospital with acute respiratory distress syndrome on May 11 before he was diagnosed with Covid-19 and transferred to the main Covid-19 treatment centre Mittaphab Hospital and died there on May 28.
