(KPL) The Hanoi High Command has provided through Lao Embassy in Vietnam medical supplies to the Vientiane Military Command.

A handover ceremony for the donation package was held in Hanoi, Vietnam on May 25 where Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengpheth Houngbounyuang received the aid package on behalf of the Lao beneficiary from Maj. Gen. Nguyen Quoc Duyet, Commander of the Hanoi High Command in the presence of relevant officials of both sides.

The aid package included 50,000 facemasks, 1,000 bottles of hand sanitizer and 50 thermometers.

The Vietnamese commander expressed concerns over the new wave of Covid-19 outbreak in the Lao PDR and noted that the donation represented the sincere contribution from the Hanoi High Command to help the Vientiane Military Command and Lao people fight Covid-19.

Ambassador Sengpheth expressed his sincere gratitude to the Vietnamese commander for the assistance noting that such assistance was very meaningful to Vientiane.

He noted that although Vietnam is experiencing a new wave of Covid-19, the country shares hardship with the Lao people and shares lessons, experiences, and provides financial assistance and medical supplies as well as technical assistance to the Lao PDR in a timely manner.

The ambassador assured the donor that his embassy will be active in coordinating with relevant authorities in Laos to ensure such medical supplies were used effectively in fighting Covid-19.
