(KPL) The renovation of the 9.37 km stretch of road
from the Tanmixay traffic light to the Sikert T-junction on the National Road
13 North, which kicked off last year, is expected to be completed in September
next year.
The timeline for the completion of this US$45 million
(360 billion kip) road renovation project was confirmed by Vice President of
the Tang Chalern Construction Company, Mr Khambone Thammavongsa.
The road is designed to be paved with a double layer
of asphalt and will be equipped with a drainage system, streetlights and
traffic signs as part of the expansion of the infrastructure in Vientiane
Capital.
This road also connects to National Road 13 South
and the 450-year road, which is a prioritised infrastructure development
project of Vientiane Capital.
Once completed, this road will help relieve
traffic congestion in Vientiane Capital, and also improve the living conditions
of the local people along this road.
The road has many large potholes due to bad wear
and tear from heavy trucks.
The contractor has been asked to pay urgent
attention to repair the damage. The potholes are expected to be filled in by
May 26, and overall construction is now 16 percent complete.
