(KPL) The Lao Electrical Construction and Installation State Enterprise last Friday signed an agreement on a feasibility study into solar energy development in Vientiane Capital with the China Hydroelectric Corporation.
The agreement was signed by the Director of the Lao Electrical Construction and Installation State Enterprise, Mr Bountham Senphansiri, and the Representative of the China Hydroelectric Corporation, Mr Yang Jian, in the witness of the relevant officials of both sides.
The pilot solar energy project is to promote the use of environmental friendly energy in Vientiane Capital.
The feasibility study will focus on the Vientiane Industrial and Trade Park (21Km), which lies in an area which is unsuitable for farming purposes, according to Mr Bountham.
"We will choose area where rice farming is impossible. This will contribute to the development of electricity in Laos," said Mr Bountham.
"The solar energy development project is a best way to promote energy research and expansion in the Lao PDR," added Mr Bountham.
