(KPL) China Radio International (CRI) celebrated the 10th anniversary of the establishment of CRI in Vientiane Capital on November 22.
CRI began broadcasting via FM 93 Mhz in Laos in November 2006 for 12.5 hours per day. The radio currently broadcasts almost 20 programmes for 19 hours per day, according to the Director General of the CRI in Laos, Mr Meng Long.
Mr Meng said that 50% of broadcasted radio consists of music, 30% comprises documentaries and 20% is news.
Last year, CRI cooperated with Lao National Radio to broadcast Chinese programmes and also cooperated with the Lao National Television to hold a singing contest to select Lao singers to participate in the ASEAN-China Friendship Singing Festival.
In 2014, CRI developed the CRI radio online app for mobiles which can be found at Appstore for IOS and at Playstore for Android mobiles.
CRI always adheres to the promotion and exchange of culture between the two countries for Lao audiences.
“Media cooperation is a significant contribution to the comprehensive strategic cooperation between Laos and China,” added Mr Meng.
“CRI will do its utmost to serve the people of Laos and hopes that listeners will extend greater assistance and support to CRI as well as promote exchanges and cooperation in various areas of the two countries to enhance the longstanding friendship of the people of our two countries," he said.
The expansion of the broadcasting commenced yesterday with the aim of serving listeners in Laos as well as becoming a bridge for better mutual understandings between Laos and China.
"CRI will be able to develop with assistance from the Lao government and society, as well as its audiences, and has plans to expand its broadcasting to remote areas next year,” he said.
