The Swiss Red Cross Office in Laos handed over vehicles and project equipment to the Lao Red Cross on September 25, 2026, to strengthen blood donation services and emergency preparedness in schools and communities.
(KPL) The handover ceremony was held at the National Blood Institute in Vientiane and was attended by Mr. Khamlavone Chanthalavanh, President of the Lao Red Cross; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chanthanhom Manithip and Dr. Chanthala Suksakhone, Vice Presidents of the Lao Red Cross; and Mrs. Binita Poudel, Representative of the Swiss Red Cross in Laos, along with relevant officials.
The support is being provided under two initiatives: the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) Project on Strengthening Blood Donation Mobilization and Safe Blood Supply and the School and Community Emergency Preparedness (SAFER) Project.
The equipment is intended to support efforts to improve blood donation mobilisation and the availability of safe blood supplies, while strengthening emergency preparedness and response capacity at schools and in local communities.
Before the handover, officials presented a report on the activities and achievements of the two projects, highlighting progress made through cooperation between the Lao and Swiss Red Cross.
