Khammouane Province held a groundbreaking ceremony on September 24, 2026 for a new clock tower in Thakhek District, with an investment of 2.5 billion kip from two sponsoring companies
(KPL) The ceremony was attended by Dr. Somsaath Ounsida, President of the Khammouane Provincial Administration Committee, district authorities and other relevant officials.
The ceremony included traditional religious rites led by senior monks, followed by the erection of the main pillar and laying of the foundation stone in accordance with Lao customs.
The clock tower is being built as a new landmark for Thakhek, with the aim of improving the city’s urban landscape and creating a more attractive and liveable environment.
The project is also expected to provide a new attraction for domestic and international visitors, offering a prominent location for sightseeing and photography while contributing to the promotion of Thakhek’s tourism potential.
Authorities expect the project to enhance the city’s appearance and support tourism development and broader socio-economic opportunities in Khammouane Province.
