(KPL) Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone visited flood-affected areas in Khan Keung Subdistrict, Pakse City, Champasak Province, on August 22, 2026, where he met residents and delivered emergency relief supplies.
According to Khamsavat Soutthavong, President of the Khan Keung Subdistrict Administration Committee, flooding has affected 637 households and 3,104 people across 13 villages. Damage includes 137 hectares of rice fields, 38 fishponds, five roads and one temple. Fourteen families, comprising 60 people, have been evacuated to temporary shelters.
The Prime Minister praised local authorities for their rapid response and urged them to strengthen disaster preparedness, maintain sanitation at shelters and closely monitor residents’ health.
He also called for continued monitoring of weather and water levels, protection of property and stronger community solidarity to cope with further risks.
Prime Minister Sonexay handed over financial assistance, consumer goods, medicines and medical equipment to the Champasak Provincial Administration to support affected families and accelerate recovery efforts.
