Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Anouparb Vongnorkeo met with Dacian Cioloș, Presidential Advisor and former Prime Minister of Romania, on June 15 during his working visit to the Lao PDR.

The two sides discussed cooperation between Laos and Romania in bilateral and multilateral frameworks, including within the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF). They also exchanged views on expanding collaboration in the coming years.
During the meeting, the Lao side outlined national development priorities under the National Socio-Economic Development Plan, including infrastructure connectivity, rural development, poverty reduction, green growth, environmental protection, and digital transformation to support sustainable socio-economic development.
The Romanian side expressed interest in strengthening cooperation across various sectors and continuing to promote closer relations between the two countries.
On the same day, Dacian Cioloș met with the Executive Board of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss opportunities for future trade and investment cooperation.
The Lao PDR and Romania established diplomatic relations on November 25, 1962, and both countries are members of the International Organization of La Francophonie.
