Mr. Phongsaysack Inthalath, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare (LSW), led a delegation on April 30 to visit and offer encouragement to various labour units across Vientiane.

The visit, coinciding with the 140th anniversary of International Workers' Day (May 1, 1886 – 2026), aimed to assess working conditions and provide moral support to Lao workers.

The Deputy Minister and his team toured two significant industrial sites: Hoya Laos Co., Ltd. and Zhongtum Solar Technology (Laos) Co., Ltd.

At each location, the delegation received comprehensive briefings on business operations, labour management practices, and the implementation of employee welfare policies. Mr. Inthalath also conducted inspections of production lines and engaged in direct discussions with the workforce.

During this important occasion, Mr. Phongsaysack Inthalath emphasised several critical areas for both employers and employees.

He highlighted the paramount importance of protecting rights and welfare, urging employers to strictly adhere to the Labour Law and social security regulations. This includes ensuring fair and reasonable wages to attract skilled labour and enhance the overall quality of life for workers.

Furthermore, the Deputy Minister stressed the need for occupational safety and health, advocating for the creation of positive working environments that guarantee both physical and mental well-being. The ultimate goal, he stated, is to achieve a zero-incident rate for workplace accidents and occupational diseases.

Finally, Mr. Inthalath encouraged Lao workers to proactively engage in skill development, fostering their technical expertise and discipline.

This, he noted, is crucial for them to serve as a primary force in driving the nation’s socio-economic strength.

The Deputy Minister concluded by commending the visited labour units for their active role in generating employment opportunities for Lao citizens and contributing significantly to national development. He extended his best wishes to all workers across all ethnic groups and social strata, wishing them good health and continued success in their professional endeavours.
