Malaysia's iconic cultural festival, Citrawarna 2026, will return to Merdeka Square in Kuala Lumpur from 24 to 26 July 2026, bringing together performers from across the country in a vibrant celebration of the nation's rich cultural diversity, traditions, and heritage.

Held in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026), this year's festival carries the theme "The Rhythm. The Soul. The Nation." The event will transform the historic Merdeka Square into a showcase of Malaysia's multicultural identity through four signature experiences: Colours of Parade, Colours of Flavour, Colours of Culture, and Colours of Art.
Visitors can enjoy cultural performances, traditional cuisine, heritage exhibitions, local handicrafts, live artisan demonstrations, and interactive activities highlighting Malaysia's diverse cultural heritage.
First introduced in 1999, Citrawarna, also known as Colours of Malaysia, was established to promote the country's arts, culture, heritage, and natural diversity. The 2026 edition is organised by Tourism Malaysia in collaboration with Yes Travel & Holidays Sdn. Bhd., with support from Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), Warisan Kuala Lumpur, and other partners.
A major highlight of the festival will be the Colours of Parade on 25 July, featuring performers from across Malaysia in a spectacular procession celebrating national unity through music, dance, and storytelling.
The three-day festival is also expected to benefit the tourism sector by creating opportunities for hotels, tourism operators, and local businesses, while showcasing Kuala Lumpur as a sustainable tourism destination for both domestic and international visitors.
In conjunction with Citrawarna 2026, Tourism Malaysia is inviting hotels and accommodation providers to offer special room rates and promotional packages throughout the event. Further programme details and event highlights will be announced in the coming weeks.
