KPL China Datang Corporation Ltd. is accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence and advanced power transmission technologies to improve the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of large-scale clean energy systems, company representatives said during an international media briefing in Beijing on Tuesday.

As global demand for low-carbon energy continues to grow, the state-owned power company highlighted how digital innovation and ultra-high-voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission are helping overcome technical challenges associated with integrating renewable energy into national power grids.

By the end of 2025, China Datang had installed generating capacity exceeding 214 million kilowatts, with operations spanning all 31 provincial-level regions in China as well as overseas markets including Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Indonesia.

Company officials said transmitting large volumes of renewable electricity over long distances presents significant technical challenges, including maintaining grid stability and managing voltage fluctuations. To address these issues, the company has developed an optimized system combining synchronous condensers, advanced control technologies, and energy storage solutions, reducing infrastructure costs while improving transmission reliability.

Artificial intelligence has also become a key component of the company's modernization strategy. Its centralized power forecasting platform integrates real-time meteorological information—including wind speed, solar radiation, and temperature—with historical generation data to improve forecasting accuracy and support grid operations.

According to company representatives, the AI-based system enhances power system safety by anticipating fluctuations in renewable energy output, increases the utilization of clean energy resources, and provides data-driven support for electricity trading, equipment maintenance, and operational planning.

China Datang also highlighted its growing role in Southeast Asia, where projects such as the Cambodia 230-kilovolt power transmission network have contributed to strengthening regional electricity infrastructure. The company said it is sharing advanced technologies, including AI-enabled monitoring systems and robotic inspection tools, with local partners to improve operational efficiency and support regional energy development.

Officials added that the company's objective extends beyond constructing power facilities to providing technological solutions that enable greener, more efficient, and cost-effective energy systems.

Domestically, China Datang remains a major electricity supplier for the Chinese capital, providing more than half of Beijing's power supply and district heating services across approximately 960 million square meters in northern China. The company also operates the country's largest gas-fired power plant and manages its facilities through intelligent control centers that monitor operations in real time.

As it continues expanding its clean energy portfolio and digital capabilities, China Datang said intelligent technologies and data-driven management will play an increasingly important role in supporting both China's energy transition and international cooperation in sustainable power development.
