(KPL) Three major cultural landmarks in Vientiane will offer free entry to all visitors during the Lao New Year celebrations from April 14–16, 2026, marking the transition from the old year (B.E. 2568) to the new year (B.E. 2569).

Ms. Khampeuang Vongchandy, Deputy Head of the Technical Division for Heritage Management of Pha That Luang, Haw Phra Kaew, and Wat Si Saket under the Vientiane Department of Information, Culture and Tourism, announced the initiative on April 14.

Entrance fees will be waived for both domestic and international visitors throughout the three-day festival.

The participating sites include Wat Si Saket in Chanthabouly District, Haw Phra Kaew, and Pha That Luang, widely regarded as among the capital’s most iconic cultural and religious landmarks.

Visitors are encouraged to pay respects to Buddha images and take part in traditional ceremonies, including the ritual pouring of scented water over Buddha statues, a key feature of Lao New Year celebrations.

“Wat Si Saket is one of the oldest cultural sites in Vientiane and attracts visitors every day. While a service fee is normally charged, it will be waived during these three days to allow everyone to experience our heritage and join the celebrations,” Ms. Khampeuang said.

Authorities invite both residents and tourists to visit the sites and take part in Pi Mai Lao traditions at these historic locations
