On March 23, The National Assembly of Laos has approved a series of high-level judicial and oversight appointments during the inaugural session of its 10th legislature.
The session, presided over by Xaysomphone Phomvihane, reviewed and endorsed nominations for several key positions central to the country’s legal and accountability framework.
Sounthone Xayachack, Vice President of the National Assembly, presented the President’s proposal outlining the general and specific criteria, qualifications, and candidates for the posts.

Following deliberations, members of the National Assembly unanimously approved the appointments:
Phaivy Sibualipha as President of the Supreme People’s Court
Livong Laoly, a brigadier general, as Prosecutor General of the Office of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate
Vanxay Phonsavanh as President of the State Inspection Authority
Viengthavisone Thephachanh as President of the State Audit Organization

The appointments are expected to strengthen the country’s judicial system, oversight mechanisms, and institutional governance as Laos continues to advance legal reform and public sector accountability.
The inaugural session of the 10th National Assembly runs from March 23 to 27 in Vientiane, focusing on key leadership decisions and national development priorities for the new term.
