The 15th Meeting on Bilateral Cooperation between Champasak Province of the Lao PDR and Stung Treng Province of the Cambodia was held on March 11 at the Champasak Provincial Administration Office.

The meeting was co-chaired by Souksavanh Vilyavong, Governor of Champasak Province, and Sror Soputra, Governor of Stung Treng Province, with participation from leaders, department heads and delegations from both provinces.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Souksavanh said the regular bilateral meetings reflect the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the two neighboring provinces, contributing to peace, stability and mutual understanding along the border areas.
He noted that the cooperation also supports the broader relationship between Laos and Cambodia while promoting continuous development and closer ties between the people of Champasak and Stung Treng.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the implementation of the minutes from the 14th bilateral cooperation meeting and discussed new areas of cooperation. The two provinces also signed updated minutes of understanding to continue collaboration in multiple sectors.
Both sides agreed to strengthen the regular exchange of information in accordance with relevant laws and regulations to maintain peace, security and social order in border areas.
The two provinces also pledged to enhance cooperation in preventing and combating cross-border crimes, including human trafficking, cyber scams, money laundering, smuggling of illegal goods, trafficking of weapons and explosives, counterfeit currency circulation, tax evasion and illegal trade in antiquities.
They also agreed to cooperate in protecting natural resources along the border, including wildlife, forests, minerals and the environment.
In addition, both sides committed to strengthening coordination on border management and facilitating traditional cross-border visits, small-scale trade and access to medical services for people living along the border, further promoting friendship and solidarity between the people of Laos and Cambodia.
