(KPL) The February 2026 extraordinary session of the National Assembly Standing Committee convened on Feb. 27 to deliberate five priority matters of national importance.

The session was chaired by Xaysomphone Phomvihane, Member of the Party Central Committee Political Bureau and President of the National Assembly, with vice presidents, Standing Committee members, and representatives from relevant ministries and agencies in attendance.

Deliberations focused on core issues within the constitutional mandate of the Standing Committee, including a report on preparations and implementation of the elections for members of the 10th National Assembly and the 5th Provincial People’s Councils, and preparations for the inaugural session of the 10th National Assembly to be submitted to the Party Central Committee Political Bureau.

The committee also considered a proposal concerning revenue rights for Phongsavanh Group Co., Ltd. related to debt resolution fundraising, reviewed a petition for justice involving a civil dispute over land and housing (No. 307/NA, dated Sept. 10, 2024), and discussed commendations linked to the publication marking 50 years of relations between the Lao and Vietnamese National Assemblies.

Participants provided focused feedback to ensure consensus-based decisions that support effective implementation and serve the interests of the nation and its multi-ethnic people in Lao PDR.
