(KPL) Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating high-quality and sustainable economic growth under the 10th Five-Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan (2026–2030).

Presenting draft reports on the implementation of the 9th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and the direction of the new plan to the 12th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the prime minister said the government will focus on resolving economic and financial challenges more tangibly while avoiding heavy debt burdens.

He emphasized that economic management will continue to follow laws and regulations while operating under a state-guided market mechanism. Priority areas include strengthening human resource development, advancing science, technology and innovation, and improving the people’s quality of life.

The plan also targets balanced and green development, poverty reduction, rural advancement and narrowing development gaps, while enhancing governance efficiency and maintaining political stability.

Authorities aim to enable the country to graduate sustainably from least-developed country status while expanding international cooperation and strengthening Laos’ role in regional and global affairs.
