The Lao delegation was led by Brigadier General Bounlid Sisouphon, Head of Military Affairs of the Vientiane Capital Military Command, while the Thai delegation was headed by Major General Mungkhun Hothong, Commander of the Surasak Montree Task Force and Head of the Thai–Lao Border Coordination Team for Nong Khai Province. Representatives from relevant agencies and technical staff from both sides also attended.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged reports on recent activities and shared views on key issues, including immigration control to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations of both countries, as well as cooperation in combating and preventing illegal drug trafficking.

The two sides agreed to continue exchanging lessons learned to further strengthen cooperation and maintain peace, order, and stability along the Lao–Thai border. They also reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation through regular joint patrols, continued exchange visits and study tours between the Lao–Thai armed forces, and close coordination in addressing emerging issues.

Discussions further emphasized cooperation in combating illegal labor migration, human trafficking, drug-related crimes, smuggling, scammer gangs, and other transnational crimes, with the aim of effectively managing and safeguarding the shared border.

On the occasion, both sides explained coordination procedures and operational steps for joint patrols and officially launched a joint patrol to ensure effective implementation with full safety. These efforts reflect the strong cooperative relations between the Lao and Thai armed forces, particularly in the Vientiane Capital–Nong Khai area, in jointly addressing challenges along the river border and gradually reducing illegal activities.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared goal of transforming the border into an area of peace, friendship, and sustainable mutual development. The 14th meeting of the Lao–Thai Border Coordination Unit (Vientiane Capital–Nong Khai Province) will be hosted by the Lao PDR.
