(KPL/Yonhap) LG Innotek Co., an electronic components manufacturing unit of LG Group, said Thursday it will mass-produce and supply automotive camera modules for robotaxis operated by Amazon's autonomous driving subsidiary Zoox.
This marks the first time LG Innotek will ship camera modules specifically for robotaxis, LG Innotek said in a press release.
Zoox, an autonomous driving technology company acquired by Amazon in 2020, established what it calls the world's first robotaxi production facility in California last year.
It began offering paid robotaxi services to the general public in Las Vegas on Aug. 10.
Zoox's robotaxis are designed to operate without driver intervention and feature four passenger seats arranged to face one another, without a steering wheel.
