Special Lao–Vietnamese Art Performance Celebrates Success of the 12th National Congress of the Party

KPL A special Lao–Vietnamese art performance was held to celebrate the successful conclusion of the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the birth of President Kaysone Phomvihane, under the theme “Lao–Vietnam: A Song of Friendship.”


The event took place on 9 January 2026 at the National Stadium (KM 16) in Vientiane.

The ceremony was attended by Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, together with his spouse; Comrade Nguyen Van Hung, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam; along with senior and former leaders of the Party and State, members of the diplomatic corps, officials, soldiers, police, representatives of mass organizations, residents of Vientiane Capital, Vietnamese nationals living in Laos, and artistic and literary performers from both countries.

Speaking at the event, Comrade Suansavanh Viyaket, Member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, stated that the performance was organized to celebrate the success of the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, which concluded on 8 January 2026, while also contributing to the welcoming atmosphere for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, scheduled to be held at the end of January 2026.

She emphasized that this occasion reflected the joy and pride of the peoples of Laos and Viet Nam, reaffirming the great significance and strategic importance of the Lao–Vietnamese and Vietnamese–Lao relationship, characterized by great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic partnership. The event also marked 64 years of diplomatic relations and 49 years since the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries.

Comrade Suansavanh noted that the art performance was not merely an entertainment program, but a “song of history,” affirming that from the period when the two nations stood side by side in the struggle for national liberation to the present era of development, Laos and Viet Nam have continued to advance together. Through strategic connectivity in economics, transportation, and culture, both countries are working closely to bring peace, happiness, and prosperity to their peoples.

On behalf of the Party, the State, and the multi-ethnic Lao people, she expressed deep gratitude to the Vietnamese Party, State, and people for their sincere, wholehearted, and enduring support throughout history. She reaffirmed that the Lao–Vietnamese relationship is a priceless legacy of the two nations, a historical rule, and a powerful driving force that must be preserved, strengthened, and passed on to future generations. This cultural event was described as an important milestone in further consolidating the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic partnership between Laos and Viet Nam, forever steadfast and radiant like the golden lotus and the champa flower.

Addressing the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Van Hung highlighted the vital role of culture and the arts in fostering national unity, preserving identity, and promoting shared values. He stated that the special performance represented the voice of culture and reflected the emotions, confidence, and aspirations of the peoples of Viet Nam and Laos. The program was a sincere and meaningful spiritual gift from the Vietnamese Party, State, and people to the Lao Party, State, and people on this important occasion.

Through artistic expression, the performance showcased national pride, strengthened confidence in the development path chosen by the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, and honored the cultural values and fine traditions of the heroic Land of a Million Elephants. The event marked a new milestone in strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic partnership between the two Parties and States, further deepening mutual trust, affection, sincerity, and brotherhood between Viet Nam and Laos.

The special Lao–Vietnamese art program featured performances combining historical narratives with contemporary themes, vividly reflecting the close, inseparable bond between the peoples of Laos and Viet Nam. The performances reaffirmed that, in the past, present, and future alike, the destinies of the two nations remain closely intertwined, united in harmony for peace, independence, development, and shared prosperity.
