Khammouane Province has made a strong showing in the swimming competitions at the 12th National Games, winning two gold medals as of November 17. The swimming events are being held at the Km 16 Swimming Pool in Vientiane from November 16 to 19 and feature 27 categories across four days of competition.
A total of six teams are participating this year, including the Ministry of Public Security and provincial teams from Khammouane, Savannakhet, Champasak, Luang Prabang, and host Vientiane. Khammouane’s athletes are competing in 13 events, ranging from freestyle and backstroke to butterfly and breaststroke, as well as relay and medley races.
The province's two gold medals were earned by Sirialoun Boudchalern in the 50m freestyle and Ailin Phommachak in the 4x50m individual medley. In addition, Khammouane has also secured three silver and three bronze medals, underlining a strong overall performance in the pool.
Competition continues through November 19, with 30 gold, 30 silver, and 29 bronze medals up for grabs.
